Zwischen Innen und Außen: Musiktherapie bei Jugendlichen mit strukturellen Störungen

Summary

This article deals with particular features of shaping the music therapy rela¬tionship with adolescents whose early childhood experience of insufficient at¬tachment security, separation, loss and emotional deprivation now has limiting effect on their structural abilities such as affect regulation and self-object differ¬entiation. Based on the findings of a qualitative case study carried out as part of the author’s dissertation, the aspects of treatment especially focussed on are those related to the problems of encounter between unfavourable early condi¬tions of development and the current development challenges of adolescence. In the combination of clinical music therapy practice in the field of adolescent psy¬chiatry with psychodynamic, mostly object relation-theoretical assumptions, the return of musical objects proves crucial. The characteristics of this phenomenon as well as its significance for music therapy action are explored.
