Abstract

The Spirituality Factor in the Context of Pastoral Care, Psychotherapeutic, and Medical Consultation Conversations: Report on an Ongoing Research Project.

The article begins by briefly introducing the larger interdisciplinary research project group within the framework of which this research was conducted (funded by the German Research Foundation). The specific, important contribution drawn from research in the field of pastoral and spiritual care is then described. The term ”caretaker”, it is suggested, refers to an important point of overlap in the profile of many actors in the hospital setting. To investigate this hypothesis, the authors propose the qualitativeempirical ”documentary method” approach to group discussions with those caretakers. This approach is also meant to integrate with the other projects in the research group and will continue to be refined by those studies.
